Dust off your…well, Allbecause TV’s favorite obsessive-compulsive detective is coming out of retirement.
Peacock officially ordered a Monk reunion film, again starring Tony Shalhoub in the title role.

The Last Case of Mr. Monk: A Monk Movie will find Monk back to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved daughter-in-law Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding. There is currently no word on whether SEAL Teamof Alona Tal, who appeared as Molly in Monkthe series finale, will reprise that role for the film.
As to who will be Returning, the project will once again welcome Ted Levine (as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer), Traylor Howard (Natalie Teeger), Jason Gray-Stanford (Randall Disher), Melora Hardin (Trudy Monk), and Hector Elizondo (Dr. Neven Bell). The movie comes from MonkThe original creative team of , including series creator Andy Breckman and EPs David Hoberman and Randy Zisk.
“When creator Andy Breckman came to us with a new Monk case unfolding in the present day, we immediately fell in love with this story all over again,” said Michael Sluchan, executive vice president of Movies, Kids and Daytime programming at NBCUniversal. “The film has the heart and humor of the original series with contemporary relevance, and we’re thrilled to be working with the original creative team, including Andy, David Hoberman, Randy Zisk, the incomparable Tony Shalhoub, and our partners at UCP, for what is sure to be an unmissable cinematic event for Peacock audiences.
Shalhoub unofficially announced the Monk reunion on a recent episode of Dr. Loubna Hassanieh Untold stories YouTube broadcast, revealing that production would begin in May. He previously reprized the role of Adrian Monk in 2020 for a segment of Peacock’s Variety show at home titled, what else, “Monk in Quarantine”.
