During the winter holidays, someone filled in all mortal combat stocking stuffers for appreciators with something extra: Mortal Kombat 2source code on GitHub. Lawyers for Warner Bros. have made an exception to this by posting a quick DMCA Takedown Notice which Github has joined by disabling public access, but don’t worry because there are other ways to verify the content dump.

Originally reported by Extrudethe Github post was uploaded to the internet hosting service on December 27 before being reshared on the r/MortalKombat subreddit. While MKIIThe entire source code is no longer available thanks to this DMCA takedown, which has not stopped MK fans to re-upload sprites and artwork on social media.

The most notable content elements that the MKII The source code dump discovered was unused animations, artwork, and movement that hadn’t been retained for the game’s 1993 release. An artwork was an alternative mode of attraction screen with an oiled Shao Khan. Although Sindel’s spurned lover alternate panel looks like MKIIShao Khan’s Last Attraction Mode Screen, unused artwork has a bunch of masked wizards on floating platforms in the background instead of a roaring fire. According to Polygon, the original artwork is more imposing as it illustrates how the odds are stacked against Earth Realm. Honestly, yeah, a group of platform wizards are leagues scarier than a generic flame, especially if you had the misfortune to play the beat ’em up spin-off from 97, Mortal Kombat Mythologies.

The MKII The leak also showcased previously unused sprite animations and movements. If you don’t have time to analyze a almost three hour YouTube video from a guy browsing GitHub files, here’s a detailed Twitter feed Compiling all of the most notable finds, Twitter user Pegasus Kid combed through the leak and uploaded a full thread of cut moves, stage art and death. My favorite pixie, since everyone was wondering, is Kintaro walk cycle animation because it is perfectly synchronized with the music of the Solid metal gear but this is Dr Livesey Meme video.

my city contacted Warner Bros. Studios. and Nether Realm for feedback.
